50 years ago, even the mainstream media in Canada opposed the legalization of sodomy

If you want to see evidence of the difference between Canada (the country that existed before Pierre Trudeau took office as Prime Minister on April 20, 1968) and Trudeaupia (the country that has existed since that date), the following is a good example. It may surprise 21st Century readers that as late as 1967, newspaper editorials often reflected the views of society at large. You'll never again see an editorial like this one that appeared in The Edmonton Journal, July 13, 1967--and that's a shame:

Keep the law

The legislation legalizing homosexual relations between consenting male adults in Britain in s barely a week old and already there are indications of pressure for similar legislation in Canada.

This pressure should be resisted.

At the time homosexual relations with consent are illegal in Canada under sections 147 and 149 of the Criminal Code. Violation of these sections can mean imprisonment for up to five or fourteen years, depending on the section under which the conviction is obtained.

In the first place, it is difficult to imagine how these sections of the code could be amended to allow for homosexual relations between consenting adults without such amendment being interpreted as tacit approval of these relations. This interpretation being taken, we fear it would not be too long before the public was confronted with an upswing in the existing tendency of those homosexually inclined to prey on the young.

We'll be asked: if homosexual relations with an obliging young man of 22 are all right, why is it wrong to have such relations with a young man of 19?

Homosexual relations, whether between consenting adult males or not, are abnormal and repugnant to the vast majority of Canadians. They are not acceptable to Canadians in fact. They should not be made acceptable in law.

Sodomy and abortion were legalized by the Liberal government of Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau in 1969. His mentally and morally retarded pothead son Justin, who isn't qualified to run anything, and whom nobody outside his family would ever have heard of if his name weren't Trudeau, now occupies the Prime Minister's office, and never met a sodomy pride parade that he didn't want to march in. Sodomite and lesbian marriage wasn't even a Liberal Party value as recently as the 1997 federal election; now, as of 2016, it's officially a Conservative Party value--providing yet more evidence that "conservatives" merely conserve what liberals have done.
